RACING mad Queen Elizabeth could delay her speech to Parliament so she can attend the Royal Ascot race meeting.

But the election result and uncertainty in the Tory ranks have seen plans thrown up in the air.

The speech could still be held in the week of June 19, as Jeremy Corbyn plots to use it to oust Theresa May.

But experts believe the Queen will postpone talks, and make a trip to Ascot to watch the GG’s.

Bookie Betway reckon the Queen won’t want to miss out on any days of racing at Royal Ascot, and have made the Queen’s Speech odds-on favourite to begin on June 26.

Betway spokesman Alan Alger said: “Royal Ascot is hugely important to the Queen and we think there’s more chance of her delaying her speech at the House of Lords than missing the races.

“We go 2-5 for Her Majesty’s speech to be put back to 26 June at the earliest, the week after Ascot, and 7-4 that she misses a day’s racing to address Parliament.”

If the Queen were to make her speech next week, then she would likely miss at least one day of racing.

Officials at Ascot believe her majesty has not missed a single day’s racing at the meetings since her coronation in June 1953.

And in 2001, the Queen was rushed to the racecourse after her speech so she’d arrive in time for the first race.”
